Spring is in full bloom, which means you can finally swap those big heavy winter coats for lighter bomber jackets and sunglasses. Urban streetwear has always had the reputation of being fairly bland, combining basic colours with casual silhouettes. However, the streetwear trends on the runways this year have hinted at a slightly more playful prospect for the spring and summer.

We’ve put a list together of the top streetwear trends for men to keep an eye on this spring.

Art or Cartoon-Inspired Prints

Inject some fun into your style by opting for a cartoon or art-inspired T-shirt. Earlier on the runways this year, designers such as JW Anderson, DSquared2 and Katie Eary mixed bold colours with graphic prints of anime characters, The Looney Tunes and My Little Pony to add a quirky touch to their collection. And indeed, it’s perfectly acceptable this spring to give your outfit a playful makeover. Brands such as GFN Clothing have been seen experimenting with bold prints. Following the runway trends, their newest collection seems inspired by a Jackson Pollock painting. Other brands like ASOS have drawn their inspiration from Pop Art.

Wide-Legged Trousers

Forget skinny jeans, it’s all about the baggy look this spring! Wide-legged trousers have made a welcome comeback after years of tight-trouser oppression. We’re not talking about slim-fit jeans or tapered trousers. We mean trousers that go straight down and give your legs a chance to breathe. Key brands to look out for are Dickies and Levi’s that have always been known for their slouchy trousers, but fashion designers such as Dries van Noten and Rick Owens have also been experimenting with oversized shapes. And believe it or not, even baggy men’s tracksuits are back in fashion!

Tennis or Running Shoes

To finish your look, it’s hard to go wrong – just opt for a stylish pair of tennis, football or running shoes. Adidas relaunched their famous white Stan Smith sneakers a couple of years ago, which are still super trendy in 2016. Nike is also re-releasing some old running shoes from the early 2000s, such as Presto Sock Dart and Mayfly, and another model to look out for is the classic Cruyff trainer. Some of these models were still deemed hideous a couple of years ago, but they’re all cool and retro now!
