How To Style Your Guy (On Occasion) The Black Tux January 19, 2017 Fashion, Fashion How to, Fashion Infographics, Men Fashion We at The Black Tux think it’s safe to say that a majority of the men in our lives don’t often think twice about what they should wear and when. It’s just not something they seem to care (as much as us) about. But they’re missing out; fashion is, first of all, fun! And it’s also a way to quickly communicate to the world who we are, and it can be a great source of confidence. It also doesn’t hurt to look over and like what you see, either. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to help you style the men in your life, at least when it matters most (read: when you’ll be seen together).Know the CodeFirst thing’s first — what’s the occasion? Before you try and tackle that pair of pants he wears that you wish would never see the light of day again, start with events you’ve been invited to. Show him that it can be really fun to dress up for a change! To do this successfully you’ve gotta know the dress codes, which can get confusing, fast. Have no fear! We’ve put together a handy dandy guide to navigating the most common dress codes. What events go with which codes, and which clothes go with the codes? Check out the infographic below:Adapt the CodeNow, not every guy is going to want to wear a tie or a tux, even if that’s what the code calls for. You’ve got to leave a little wiggle room for creativity and individuality, and that’s not a bad thing! For picky dressers, we love the option to mix and match and to add statement pieces. For example, for prom-like occasions that call for getting dressed up, hit the internet for inspiration for more formal yet creative ensembles. Looking at different tux looks is a great place to start. But then think about how he can make them his own. If it’s easy for him to feel too stuffy, pair the tuxedo pants with a less formal suit jacket or patterned undershirt. The options are endless.Compliment and ComplementFinally, a little flattery can go a long way. If he chooses to wear something you like, don’t be shy about it! At the same time, be a participant and show him just how well you guys complement each other by pairing your outfit choices with his, or letting him pick something out for you to wear, too, even if it’s just a small accessory. In the end, it’s all about helping him feel comfortable and confident, and having fun!
